I enjoy all forms of photography, however my main interests are documentary and Contemporary.
I also enjoy creating still life images as a means of relaxation / escapism.
For many years my passion was for black and white film photography using 35mm, medium and large format cameras, printing my own images. However I no longer use film nor a darkroom.
For over 20 years, before resigning in 2022, I was an assessor for the Royal Photographic Society Distinctions, judging on the Licentiate panel, also the Assoicate and Fellowship panels in Travel, Documentary and Contemporary.
I am a current judge on the Licentiateship, Associateship and Fellowship Distinction panels for the Irish Photographic Federation.
I lecture and judge throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom, and have judged at international level.
I had the honour of being guest tutor at the University of Ulster in fine art black and white printing for the final year undergraduates.
In November 2022 I had the absolute shock and honour to have beeen awarded The Irish Photographic Federation Brendan Walkin Memorial Medal, the highest honour the Council can bestow and only the fourth person to receive it. The award was for my contrabution to Irish photography, presented by the IPF President John Butler.
